Canada Ocean Racing – Be Water Positive is officially making Canada\u2019s debut in The Ocean Race Europe, and we set sail this Sunday, 10 August from Kiel, Germany. \ud83c\udde8\ud83c\udde6\ud83c\udf0d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a proud milestone for Canadian offshore sailing \u2013 and a huge step on our journey to the 2028 Vend\u00e9e Globe, the world\u2019s toughest solo round-the-world race.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a very big goal ahead of us in 2028, and every race between now and then is part of that journey,\u201d says team president and skipper Scott Shawyer. \u201cWe\u2019re proud to be flying the flag for Canada in this race, and promoting the Be Water Positive message, whilst building experience in one of the world\u2019s most competitive fleets.\u201d<\/p>\n

From Repairs to Race-Ready<\/strong><\/p>\n

After retiring from the Rolex Fastnet Race due to a hydraulic issue, Emira IV<\/em> was quickly repaired in Cherbourg, France. With the boat back at full strength, the team is now prepped and ready to race at the highest level.<\/p>\n

About The Ocean Race Europe<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is only the second edition of The Ocean Race Europe<\/strong>, but it\u2019s already one of the most competitive sprint circuits on the calendar. From the chilly Baltic to the warm Adriatic, this race will test speed, skill, and endurance across changing conditions and coastlines.<\/p>\n

The 2025 route covers approximately 4,500 nautical miles<\/strong> over five legs across Europe:<\/p>\n

Leg 1<\/strong> \u2013 Starts 10 August<\/strong>: Kiel \ud83c\udde9\ud83c\uddea to Portsmouth \ud83c\uddec\ud83c\udde7<\/p>\n

Leg 2<\/strong> \u2013 Portsmouth to Cartagena \ud83c\uddea\ud83c\uddf8, with a fly-by in Matosinhos\/Porto \ud83c\uddf5\ud83c\uddf9<\/p>\n

Leg 3<\/strong> \u2013 Cartagena to Nice \ud83c\uddeb\ud83c\uddf7<\/p>\n

Leg 4<\/strong> \u2013 Nice to Genoa \ud83c\uddee\ud83c\uddf9<\/p>\n

Leg 5<\/strong> \u2013 Genoa to Boka Bay \ud83c\uddf2\ud83c\uddea, finishing with a coastal race finale on 20 September and prize giving<\/strong> on 21 September<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
