Nick kicked off the Symposium&#8217;s&nbsp;Opening General Session, following introductions from&nbsp;Mayor <strong>Jane Castor, <\/strong>City of Tampa, and Florida Commissioner of Agriculture<strong> Wilton Simpson<\/strong>. Mayor Castor emphasised that Florida&#8217;s population is growing by 1,000 people per day, highlighting the urgent need for next-generation water solutions to help sustain this growth.&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nick introduced our <strong>Be Water Positive<\/strong> campaign and the ambitions of the Canada Ocean Racing team. Drawing from his career as a professional offshore sailor, Nick shared inspiring stories of his around-the-world yacht races to highlight how sport has the power to elevate critical issues on an international stage.&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As a team, we are:<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Raising awareness of water scarcity<\/li>\r\n<li>Promoting global solutions and our partners<\/li>\r\n<li>Acting as a frontline communicator for the call-to-action that is Be Water Positive<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Scott later joined a&nbsp;panel discussion&nbsp;on&nbsp;water recycling and the Be Water Positive movement, exploring what water positivity means and how industries and individuals can take action.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That evening, <strong>H2O Innovation <\/strong>hosted a fireside chat with Scott and Nick, who shared personal stories from their offshore sailing experiences.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And we were delighted to have shared the stage with H2O Innovation, winning the 2025 <strong>WateReuse Award<\/strong> for Excellence in Outreach and Education for Be Water Positive.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was fantastic to be onsite with our&nbsp;founding partners, <strong>H2O Innovation<\/strong> and the <strong>IDRA<\/strong>, who took the first leap of trust to believe in and support this concept.
